FACIAL PEELS
Chemical skin peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face, neck,
chest, back and hands to smooth texture, reduce scarring, even out
pigmentation and remove acne blemishes and
pre-cancerous growths.

Salicylic Acid
Exfoliator
Salicylic acid,
a Beta-Hydroxy acid, is an excellent
deep cleanser. It dissolves oil
and is able to penetrate and
clean clogged pores. This diminishes
blackheads and pimples and prevents
new ones from forming. This amazing
3-4 mn procedure results in a
remarkable rejuvenating effect.
The skin will immediately feel
smoother, softer and appear more
evenly pigmented. Fine wrinkles,
large pores and even acne scars
will be less noticeable. You
will notice increased improvement
Glycolic Exfoliation
Gel 35%
Glycolic Acid,
an Alpha-Hydroxy acid, is one
of the most effective natural
exfoliation agents known. Glycolic
acid works by removing the outer
layers of thickened or damaged
skin, leaving a smoother and
healthier appearance. It penetrates
into the deeper layers of the
skin and increases the rate of
exfoliation and new skin cell
production. Glycolic acid improves
dry skin, diminishes age spots
and decreases fine lines and
wrinkles.
Glycolic Acid Peel
Glycolic Peels
Alpha Hydroxy acids are derived from
fruit, hence the name "fruit acid peels". Glycolic
is one of the most popular of the fruit acid. Physicians
and aestheticians do this peel in a variety of strength,
from as little as 10% up to 70%.
The results vary based on the level of the "pH".
Results can also be affected by using it in conjunction
with other peeling processes. It can also be used on non-facial
areas such as the decolletage, hands and legs. The glycolic
peels were the original "lunch time peels".
There may be a slight redness after a treatment and can
even sting a bit, but are otherwise well tolerated. Light
flaking may occur, but no downtime is involved. One of
the most publicized glycolic peel is the Refinity
Peel. This pre mixed peel contains a natural anti-inflammatory,
which makes the peel even less irritating. Results are
best when the peel is used in series.
The cost can range from $85-125.00, per treatment. Glycolic
peels effect the epidermis and upper dermis so some collagen
stimulation and perceived tightening may occur.
Micropeel / Micropeel Plus
Micro Peel Plus/Beta Lift Peel
Salicylic acid is a Beta Hydroxy acid
and is found in aspirin. It has been used since 1980 in
common peels. The common solution used varies between 15-30%.
It too can be used on multiple areas of the body. One of
the most common commercial peels utilizing this acid as
a base is the Micro Peel Plus. The best results are achieved
from a series of treatments. It is suggested every three
to four weeks depending on the patient's skin condition/disorder.
The Salicylic peel works on the epidermis only. This is
particularly good at treating acute acne or acne scaring
because salicylic acid exfoliates the impurities from the
inside of the pores. Like the glycolic peels, this treatment
has no downtime. Some patients experience the salicylic
acid peels to be a bit more irritating and a bit more drying.
The costs are similar to the glycolics, ranging from $80.00
to $100.00, per treatment.
Micro Peel
While the Micro Peel sounds similar
to the Micro Peel Plus, it is completely different. While
it still qualifies as a "lunch time peel", there
is no salicylic acid used. The patient's face is cleansed,
then a dermaplaning procedure is performed. Dermaplaning
is a manual exfoliation using a sharp instrument. This
process is incredibly pleasant, leaving the skin feeling
fresh and new. If the patient suffers from active (weeping)
acne, or has multiple wrinkling of the skin, the dermaplaning
procedure is replaced with an application of pure (papaya)
enzyme. After dermaplaning or pure enzyme procedure, the
epidermis is treated with an application of 20% - 30% glycolic
acid or lactic acid.
The cost for this peel while often one of the most time-consuming
is often the least expensive. Prices range from $55.00
to $100.00, per treatment.
Pigment Peel Plus
This is similar to the Blue Peel. Ask
us which of the two may be more appropriate for you.
Retinoic Acid
Peel
Liquid Retinoic Peel
This is one of the most beneficial and
rewarding of the "lunch time peels". By now most
people are familiar with RetinA, a vitamin A derivative.
Retinoic acid is essentially a liquid version of the same.
This peel can be applied alone after a thorough cleansing
or it may be proceeded by a treatment of microdermabrasion.
Considering all of the acids discussed thus far, this irritates
the skin the least during and post application. But don't
be fooled, this peel gives amazing results, with flaking/peeling
lasting up to 5 days. Performed in a series, this peel
can improve the surface texture, even-out skin tone, and
decrease the appearance of fine wrinkles. The patient leaves
the office with a slight yellow cast to their skin as the
Retinoic acid remains on the patients' face when they leave
the office. The patient will cleanse the face 3 - 4 hours
later.
The cost for this peel ranges from $85.00 to $100.00, per
treatment. When combined with microdermabrasion it runs
about $185.00, per treatment.
Vitalize Peel
This is the newest of the "lunch
time peels" and consists of three acids used in conjunction.
They are beta salicylic, lactic, and Retinoic. This combines
the benefits of many of the other peels already discussed.
This peel can achieve dramatic results with significant
improvement in epidermal texture and tone, lessening of
superficial lines and generally a healthier and more youthful
look. While flaking occurs with this peel as well, there
is no true down time. This peel has been clinically proven
to help pigmentation problems fade, to improve texture,
and to stimulate collagen production in the cells underneath
the skin surface. This is also useful to treat active acne
and acne scarring.
Prices for this peel range from $135.00 to $180.00 per
treatment.
